Pretend to pull the ball back, and then accelerate instead! You’re so clever.
When to do this move
The best time to do this move is when you are dribbling with an opponent pressuring you from the side. It might work in other situations where you have an opponent approaching from the side – causing some hesitation as you fake a change in direction. A change in speed is also very important, not only accelerating after you fake but ALSO slowing down to do the fake to make it seem like you’re slowing down to do a pullback.
How to do the Fake Pullback
1. As you dribble, slow down a bit and lift the leg so that your foot hovers over the ball.
2. Quickly bring the leg back down and continue dribbling.
